Puppy prep

This one (1) hour session is only available to 8 to 16-week-old puppies and takes place in your home and may cover the following topics (as time allows): Puppy-proofing your home and yard, transporting your puppy, safety issues (e.g., toxic plants and human food, etc.), dog food and treats, dog toys, training equipment (e.g., head halters/collars, harnesses, etc.), potty and crate training.

Please note: Many behavior issues start before most pet owners even realize there is a problem. Wouldn't it be better to help prevent them in the first place?

Socialization

Socialization is extremely important and is often overlooked by many dog owners. According to an article by Dr. Marty Becker, "An unsocialized dog - whether fearful or aggressive - is at a higher risk of ending up in a shelter with little chance of being adopted again. Some experts argue that, in the long run, behavior problems kill more dogs than parvovirus does. Perhaps that puts the importance of proper and safe socialization into perspective."

Obedience

Teaching your puppy or dog allows you to communicate what you want to your pet in a way they will understand. Simply shouting a cue/command (e.g., sit, down, come, stay, heel, etc.) repeatedly isn't an effective way to train your pet.

Once you have the basics down, you need to improve your dog's reliability in different situations and environments (e.g., a delivery person at the front door, a child riding a bicycle or scooter at a public park, a person jogging with their dog in the neighborhood, etc.).

Behavior issues

Learn what you can do to help keep behavior issues from developing from the start. However, with consistency, patience, proper management, and the right training techniques most behavior issues can be successfully addressed.

Below is a partial list of behavior issues we can assist you with: Chasing skateboarders, destructive chewing, excessive barking, fearfulness, jumping up on people, resource guarding, separation anxiety, etc.

Please note: An assessment/consultation is required for all behavior issues.

Tricks and more

Teaching your dog tricks (e.g., roll over, shake paw, spin, crawl, etc.) and playing games, like hide-and-seek, can not only be a fun and bonding experience for both of you...it can also provide much needed mental and physical stimulation for your pet.
